National Poetry Day
On 3rd October 2013, students from years 7-10 celebrated National Poetry Day in their English lessons. The theme this year was "Water Water Everywhere". Students read and discussed poems on this theme, and then produced their own poems based on "The Tornado" by Rachel Rooney and "Jetsam" by Michael Symmons Roberts, using images of water in all its various forms.
This poem was written by Luke Markey in 9TP:
Fog
I knew a girl, fog
Born in the morning
Arrived in the world with a hush
Crept out onto the horizon
She picked herself up found her feet
But still she was feeling the world is on her shoulders
And all she kept feeling was
Blank, damp and blind
She couldn’t find her way around.
It was misty
It looked wet but it was dry.
You have no name
To represent you
But when I ask you
you say your name is fog.
