Luka Kos elected Deputy MYP
Luka Kos, Year 12 student and recently elected Deputy Member of Youth Parliament for Croydon, describes his experience election campaign experience…
UK Youth Parliament is a charity that gives opportunities to young people to help make decisions that affect them in their local areas, as well as debate on a more national scale. I decided to run for Youth Parliament back in November and received training on public speaking and advice on how to run a campaign. I had a three week campaign period where I was able to go to youth clubs as well as hold assemblies in this school. It was challenging as I had to prepare speeches and my manifesto, with my main policy being to reform buses by hopefully introducing a more efficient system to prevent people from missing their buses. In the end I managed to collect 869 votes in the Croydon borough, which helped me get elected as the Deputy Member of Youth Parliament for Croydon. A special thanks to Mr McCann for helping making it a reality and for everyone who voted.
