'Raising & Giving' Opportunities This December

Our Prefects and Student Council have chosen two charities to support this year: The Stephen Lawrence charity, Blueprint For All, and Afrinspire.

Blueprint for All is a charity which works with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds aged 13 to 30 to inspire and enable them to succeed in the career of their choice.

Afrinspire is a UK registered charity that works with schools in East Africa to provide support and reduce poverty through education. Our students were touched by the stories of young pupils who have had their education disrupted by the pandemic over a two-year lockdown in Uganda.

What's happening this month?

The Prefects and Student Council have created a variety of activities that will raise money for these worthy causes. Last week they led assemblies to launch our chosen charities and outlined the events which students can be involved in.

  • Students can choose to volunteer their services for charity by packing bags at a supermarket or litter picking
  • Alternatively, they can pay to wear a Christmas jumper, attend a cinema screening (Years 7-10) or watch a basketball match between our Year 12 and Year 13 teams. During the cinema screening there will be food items on sale for students to purchase and the profits will also go to our chosen charities. Please speak to your son or daughter who may have any food allergies as they would need to bring their own snack for the movie.
  • We are re-launching our food appeal for Bromley Foodbank. We are asking that students bring in non-perishable food items and toiletries. Each item will give their Faculty Points and increase their chances of winning a place on one of our rewards trips at the end of the academic year.
  • Staff are also running (5K, 10K and a marathon) or walking in a charity event on Sunday 12th December as part of our contribution to raise money for our chosen charities.

Please use the following link if you would like to support us in any of our fundraising events, including the staff run: www.justgiving.com/HCACP2021

All monies raised will go towards our chosen charities.Thank you for your support. If you have any further questions, please contact me on Owusut@harriscrystalpalace.org.uk
