Year 11 English Trip to ‘An Inspector Calls’
Kyle, Year 11, writes about a trip to theatre to see the play she's studying for GCSE.
Watching ‘An Inspector Calls’ on stage was a valuable and uplifting experience that was definitely worth seeing. We got to see it in a professional theatre, and the atmosphere made you focus on and engage with the play.
Although it was slightly different to the text, everyone had positive feedback and loved the experience, as some people had never been to a theatre before.
Towards the end of the play there was a planned explosion of the Birlings’ house, and the house destabilising represented the trust and love between the Birlings destabilising and breaking down.
In my opinion, I thought it was a very interesting and intriguing adaptation. This went down as one of our favourite trips as it will help us with our Literature GCSE and we really enjoyed it.
